2013 Skoda Fabia VRS?

Featured Replies

Hi

My wife is expecting our first baby and we are looking for a new car for her, something with 5 doors, an ok boot size and decent performance.

A 2013 Fabia VRS with 63k miles came up near us and it looks ok but I did a google of common issues and found a load of horror stories about the 1.4 TSI engine.

As this will be her primary car, I just dont want to shell out £6k for something which could be a ticking time bomb, I would rather get a BMW like we have always had before.

Are the stories warranted? I realise all cars have common faults but you get the odd one which can have major engine issues (BMW N47 for example) so I would prefer to avoid these.

Thanks

Welcome.

Yes sadly the horror stories are warranted.   Obviously there are perfectly good early CTHE Mk2 vRS, and some pretty bad ones.

More good than bad but as the years go on more are needing money spending on them.

Best go and find a VW Group car with maybe a Euro 5 1.4 TSI engine with 140-150 ps.  Not a Twincharger.

the MK3 Fabia 1.2 TSI is another option and safer bet, similar boot space 5 doors, 110BHP DSG, If you find a 2016 will be cheaper and only £20 Tax (per year)
