CarPlay Headunit

Featured Replies

Has anyone got any experience fitting a CarPlay compatible head unit into Skoda Fabia mk2 that currently has the Skoda supplied satnav/dab radio.

If so can you point out any things to be aware before I buy anything?

thanks in advance

Out of interest....why would you want to swap out the factory Nav / DAB unit ??

I swapped my Skoda mk2 swing for a Pioneer avh-z5100dab that has car play and Android auto. I use android auto and find it very good , using Google , Waze maps, Spotify also has DAB+ , plays dvd and cd, Bluetooth streaming. The unit has its own selection of satnav apps , Sygic is £50, Navitel £11.49, navimi free, speed cams £3 and genius maps of which on selection would installed on your phone. Both carplay and Android auto both work via usb cable. There is a 2019 model avh-5200dab and also more expensive dedicated Skoda head unit with dedicated Sat nav.

Tried Sygic which works well as does navitel.

Due to water log damaged I also changed the whip aerial to a powered shark fin with powered DAB+ and GPS (in case I ever want a headunit with built in satnav).

I understand why you did it as you only had a swing stereo as did I, but the op has the factory nav unit with dab and it is a cracking headunit, no idea why anyone would swap that......each to their own
