Tailgate locks on its own

Featured Replies

Hi, I've run into a problem with tailgate after replacing the switch on driver door lock (tells BSG when the door is open). Before the switch replacement the tailgate worked fine (exept for that switch :D) but after I've replaced it the tailgate can only be opend by the lever on the driver side and the remote. The problem is that the handle in the tailgate only works a few seconds after unlocking the car and then the tailgate "lock it selt". Any ideas?

Try opening one of the rear doors and then see if the tailgate opens.

I've tried every door but it didn't help.

Oh strange.

Is the lights-on bleeper working when you open the drivers door with the side lights on?

Yes, It does. When I've trier it today it worked fine so the fault seems to be Intermittent.

On the lock unit, did you have a look to see if the plastic covered cam that operates the switch was in good condition? Often they are shredded which means a new switch may not work properly.
