Something jammed in boot lock

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I jammed a pillow (of all things!) in the boot and it is locked but won't open using the key fob. Is there a way of opening the lock manually from the inside or outside without damaging the lock. Many thanks for any help.

It should be in the car's manual. In the online version it is on page 116.

One quick thing to try before removing the pillow, dead body, spent cartridge casings, etc from the boot, is to press the lower part of the hatch from the outside and then operating the key fob, or the button on hatch latch. Sometimes, if there is pressure on the hatch from the inside, it can stop the electric release from working the latch, but frees up if you de-stress it (not dissimilar to how a steering lock can be hard to unlock with the key once in a while, without applying a little counter movement on the steering wheel to free it up).

Thanks a million both of you for your suggestions. I tried to press the hatch from the outside as suggested but no joy - the dead body, I mean pillow :) was jammed in too much so I read the online manual as per the other suggestion and managed to manually open it from the inside while my husband pulled up on the hatch outside. All's well that ends well with no damage done to the pillow or more importantly to the boot. Thanks again. I really appreciate your time and advice!!

A shovel for the "pillow" and the coordinates for a suitable shallow grave site are in the post.

Send cash in the usual brown envelope, please.
