Need help with 8.5j and coilovers

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

My current spec is:

-new Monroe reflex shocks (worst mistake ever)

-H&R 29124 springs

-Sportec Mono 10 wheels (8.5j ET35 18") with 225/40/R18 Falken FK510 tyres

Problem is that i cant feel the wheels while driving sporty, its like i`m driving on a pc simulator. Braking in corner tips the front of the car like its only sitting on 2 wheels, etc.

I am not after the low life although i like it , better be safe than sorry (living in Romania). I only want a stiffer suspension,  same height as now (maybe 10mm lower on front if possible).

This being said, i looked for reviews on coilovers but I saw on a thread here that the coilover adjustment nut will rub on my wheels...  so going the coilover path implies spacers.

After a lot of browsing and talking about spacers with someone that sells them i guess i have 2 options:

1) Run spacers:

-10mm front (to be sure that i have enough clearance)

-15mm rear (minimum spacer width that has a center ring)

2) Dont run spacers, giving the fact that i dont want to go very low.... maybe it wont rub. But i am not sure as everyone puts coilovers to go low, so i didnt find any pics.

As my wheels are pretty flush right now, adding the spacers will poke the wheels too much and might rub like crazy on the fenders.

Can you guys share some knowledge and photos that will guide me through this?

Thank you in advance!

PS: taking the helper spring out (on coilovers) is not an option, doesnt feel safe to me.
