My good lady's Black Edition

Featured Replies

Finally picked up a MK2 Monte for the OH. Technically I guess it's a Black Edition but it's still a Monte :)

Quite leggy @ 80k (this was reflected in the price) but has great full invoice backed up service history and has obviously been looked after.

Usual specs!

2014 Monte Carlo Black Edition

1.2tsi 105bhp

Heated Seats

Amundsen +

Maxi-Dot

etc etc etc...

I've hooked it up to my VCDS and was happy to find no fault codes so did a few tweaks:-

Enable large MPH display in cluster

Needle sweep

Enabled autolock @ 15mph

Tear drop wipe

Blinking stop lights on emergency braking

Not sure if there is much else that can be done VCDS wise?

Although it was only serviced at a VAG specialist on 30th July I've ordered all gen bits to do it again myself for peace of mind.

Air, Oil, Fuel & Cabin Filters

Quantum LL3 Oil

New Spark Plugs

I had to replace a one way breather valve that was snapped off in the cam cover but the dealer I bought car from paid :)

Disks and pads are pretty worn so got a set of OE Disks and Pads and planning to check the condition of the rear shoes & cylinders when I paint the drums and calipers.

Ordered a few accessories.

Boot Liner

Boot Storage Box

Gen Carpet Mats

Spare wheel and tool kit (as I don't like the foam stuff)

Future plans!

Upgrade Nav DB as it's still on V5 (any advice where to get V9 from as the SD card isn't present???)

LEDs and other bulb upgrades (Osram Nightbreakers etc)

Stage 1 Remap

Sort moisture ingress in front fog lights and tail lights.

Wheel refurb when tyres are due replacement. I've got some MK3 Golf wheels & tyres which should fit whilst they are being refurbed.

Fit armrest (once I've repaired the lid)

Full detailing session!

The other half is very happy with it. She is most impressed with how little fuel it uses in comparison to the 2004 1.8t Quattro A4 she had before!

She even moves my A6 out of the way to get the Fabia out whereas she used to just take my car before.

Looks nice that, I'd roll in that,

I have a brand new Monte Carlo alloy in my garage bought for the wife's old 2014 Fabia with new 215/40R17 tyre which you could use as a spare. Am travelling upto York on Saturday 21/09/19 if you want to PM me with an offer. This cost me over £300 new but would like to pass it on to someone who can benefit from using it.

Thanks for the offer Shy!

I'd love a full size spare but I've already got a steel spare in the car now and could probably do without spending any more than I already have on it! Lol

However just out of interest what sort of money would you be looking for. Don't see many rims for sale.

Happy with £100 delivered.:thumbup:Never been on a car as you can tell by the tyre condition.

Just for info it's Gunmetal Grey and not Black. The alloy was £210 from local Skoda dealer and tyre was £120.

If you try really  really really really hard you can get the Hazard lights to start flashing as well, they remain on until you start to pull away once you've stopped.

If a driver of a nice pastel shade FIAT 500 does not even brake really hard they can manage to get the hazards flashing.

That really is not a great 'safety measure' if the traffic is all at about 70 mph going through Glasgow in the 50 MPH limit where it is 5 or 6 lanes wide and some muppet triggers those hazards as the try changing lanes.

There other cars that trigger the Hazards or flashing rear brake lights far too easily.

Haha! I've not managed to trigger it yet but it accepted the coding quite happily.

So any tips on Nav DB upgrades. The RNS315 is actually pretty decent coming from the 3G+ MMI in my A6

Thank you for that!
