Locking doors after airbag deployment.

Featured Replies

The car has just been delivered from the UK and I am trying to do this remotely from France with help from the forum so long lines of communication.

My neighbour who has taken delivery of my salvage repairable Yeti says that he cannot lock the doors, the battery has enough charge to start the vehicle with a booster pack, it might be low voltage so will get him to put a charger on it.

I am assuming that when the airbags deploy the deadlocks release so that the emergency services wont be hindered, I am further assuming that they cannot be locked again by say an incapacitated driver pressing the remote button, if that is correct what do we need to do to lock the doors?

i will not be there for a week so would like it secure.

I guess when i am there I can deadlock the other 3 using output tests in VCDS.

Lots of assumptions on my part so would like some real knowledge or experience!

Bonnet will not latch but my Octavia will lock with bonnet open unless the Yeti is different?

I checked the button lock on the remore and the lock solenoids actuated.  I thought I'd checked the door physical lock too?

The battery that is in the car wouldn't do much beyond switch the dash lights on.  It needed the battery pack to turn over - which it did instantly.

A further thought; if the doors were "coded out" as a result of the airbag trip wouldn't that have disabled the solenoids?  I could clearly hear them actuating from the button.

Also, shouldn't there have been a good spare battery sent with the car?  Putting that on should address the problem.

Yes Mike, it was simply a dead battery that would do nothing without a booster pack connected, my neighbour in the UK is a very jumpy panicky type.

All resolved, the mods can delete the thread now if they like as its a red herring.

I'll take another opportunity to publicly thank Mike for all his help and support, thats the real spirit of Briskoda which is IMO being obscured from view behind the Brexit thread to any lurkers or observers thinking of joining.

Battery was forgotten, Paul delivered so I'm not going to moan about it, I have a couple of spares.
