Fabia Mk2 1.2 HTP - getting P0342 code

Featured Replies

Just purchased a 2009 Fabia Mk2 1.2 HTP (56000 miles on the clock) from a family friend. They told us about this fault code they kept getting, saying that it would come in when they filled the car with cheap supermarket fuel. It didn't affect the driving of the car.

Anyway I collected the car this evening and the code is P0342 mentioning the camshaft sensor.  Would I be right in thinking it's a car of getting a garage to check the sensors to ensure they're connected right and operating correctly or do you think there could be something else to it?

thanks in advance

I've had a trawl around the net loon this. Will wait to see if the code comes back then look to replace the sensor as a starter for 10...

Is yours the 60 bhp or 70 bhp version of the HTP?

Does it make any rattly noises at cold start?

It's a 60... Only had it 24 hours so not noticed any bosses and it's our first petrol car in an age so getting used to it.

No re-occurance of the code so far which is encouraging...

Light came on again, there seemed a bit of a judder at the start at which point the light came on....

Well check the wiring / plug to the sensor.

Does your tool "clear" the fault ?

Yes it does, I've cleared it as it "concerns" the wife!!!

It's in for a full service in a couple of weeks so I'll get the garage to check it over.

Could a weak starter contribute to this?
