Hello I have a Skoda Fania 1.6 tdi mk11 2013 Monte Carlo it's done around 38000 miles only bought it this year but when the car has been sitting all night and I go to start it hesitates, idles rough, the engine shakes, and it seems to misfire for about 5 mins, then it's idles fine also exhaust smell like its running to rich I've tested glow plugs and relay all fine any ideas

The Fania is a hard to understand challenge, I've been chasing it for years without much success.

 

On the car front it sounds like it could be the temp sensor that decides how much choke to apply. Can't remember the name of it but I had to reply. We all love the Fania.

So has your car had the Skoda / VW Emissions Fizxxxx carried out. New engine management and a floiw defice insered where one never was before.

As far as I'm aware it's not had the update

Check a vin checker that works, sorry if mine is not working.  EDIT, Fixed now hopefully.

 

Do you buy it from a Skoda Dealership?

I've checked and it has not had the update read slot of things about the update causing problems

Has it got a nice clean Air filter in, and any service record for a new Fuel Filter?

Air filter is pretty clean only thing I noticed when I checked the air intake pipes slight oil in engine breather pipe that attaches to the intake pipe but I read that's normal to have a bit of oil it had a service sticker in the window saying it was due next year so I assume so but no service records
