As my car is the years old at the end of October I thought I would get a last update of the map. Seems I am too late as it says there are no updates and I should contact my service department.

It looks like the three years runs from when the car is built rather than sold.

I did my last map update after my 3 years was up. In fact I've just found the ZIP file and it's dated April (3 yrs ended 1st March, car built Feb).

 

I've just entered my VIN and the update portal says "There were no software updates for the VIN."

 

Maybe it's having an off day?

Thanks for that information, I'll try again later.

I have just updated mine.

The car was bought new in April 2016.

 

Maybe you are allowed three updates???    (that was the first since the car left the showroom)

I downloaded the 2019/20 file and extracted it. I have mib1,mib2 and metainfo2. The car cannot find the update. Am I doing something wrong?

Are you using a Mac as they leave files on the card that confuse things. I believe you need software to stop remove these files.

No it's a PC. I wonder if it's the right download for my car. I looked on the VW website and there are ones for earlier systems.

Are the files unzipped (extracted) ??

these were for Škoda's Columbus(VW's Discover Pro)

I have a Columbus but on the VW site there is one for Passats from 2014 and one from 2017. 

As mine is a 2016 SEL maybe I should be downloading the one for cars from 2014?
