Hi,

I had this problem today which I have never experienced on a car before.  I came around a roundabout in 2nd gear went to change to 3rd gear but could not as the gear lever was jammed. Their was no play what so ever it was solid. I still had the clutch still depressed so brought the pedal and it was still working as the engine started to stall. I kept trying to move the gear lever and eventually it moved and is working fine as if nothing happened. I am hoping might have an answer to this problem.

Might be a gear linkage problem had something similar on a 1990 MR2 GT but mine stayed in 2nd gear until I managed to drive it to the Toyota Dealer.

Also probably worth checking the gearbox oil level.
