Possessed rear wiper - 59 Fabia 1.4 TDI PD 1

Featured Replies

Well, maybe it isn't possessed, but it's acting up.

Since yesterday, my rear wiper has started coming on every time I start the car.  Sometimes a single sweep, sometimes a half sweep, sometimes intermittent, sometimes constant.   A bit of wiggling of the stalk seems to stop it and return it to parked, so I initially thought maybe there's a fault in the stalk.

I haven't had a chance to poke around fully, but thought I'd ask if it's a common thing.  Its been a great car since I bought it, but there has been a couple of gremlins (passenger electric window not working, until I took the fuse out and put it back in a couple of times), so I wondered if this was a common issue.

Check the battery.

Brand new battery, been on a couple of weeks.  Tested it with my Multimeter when I got it, haven't tested since.  I did notice one of the M6 sized nuts attached to the fuses on the battery was missing, so put a new one on.

Ha no affect, so I took out the fuse, as it was driving me mad, put the fuse back later, and now the rear wipers aren't working at all, but there's an engine management light on.

I don't mind losing the rear wiper to be honest, I quite like the cleaner look without a rear wiper, it's just not something I'd bother doing if the wiper was working.  I would like to get to the bottom of it first however.

now the rear wiper isn't working at all I meant to say

If you don't mind losing the rear wiper, have a look at the APR wiper delete kit. Makes the rear look much cleaner!

To me when wipers are removed they look like cheap vauxhall nova merits from the 80's which did not always have one fitted from new!!!..........

Never ever ever will I understand removing the ability to clear your rear vision !!!........................................

Rumbled, I have a few litres of flat burgundy paint and a beige interior I was planning on fitting too 😂

Wife's 59 plate Fabby 1 did this about 2 months ago, turned out to be the wiring in the tailgate was FUBAR at the joint (similar to the problem she had last year with the Passenger door loom breaking at the hinge), and the Motor it's self was a bit knackered! Both replaced and no problems...

Cheers, I'll have a ganders at the wiring first, and hopefully it's something simple like a bit of chafing.
