We have a 2010 Octavia 1.6 Diesel and have a problem with the indicators - When we indicate to the Right, the left indicator light on the dash also lights up -  less intense than the Right one.  Any ideas on a solution.

Do the left indicators on the car light up, even faintly, when you indicate right?

Just a thought but you have not fitted an aftermarket HID headlight kit to the car have you? They have been known to affect the BCM on Octavia Facelift models and make the indicators do funny things.

Hi Liger 1956. Thanks for responding.

Nothing has been changed.  It just happened last week.  All lights and indicators are working correctly on the outside -  Only the dash indicators are impacted.  indicating left is OK

On the dash - the left indicator lights faintly when you switch on the ignition  - it goes out when you start the engine.

Sounds like a bad earth somewhere or a faulty indocator switch.

Does this affect the pre-FL similarly do you know?

The pre-FL tends to blow the wiper motor and the FL tends to kill the BCM.

Given the exterior indicators are fine, it's likely to be a fault with the instrument cluster or it's wiring.

Check the small section of wiring that connects to the cluster is in good condition and consider having an electronics repair shop check the cluster.

Touch wood my HID's have not spiked anything yet but had I read those Ross Tech reports I would not have fitted them, I need to consider carefully before doing the upgrade to the Yeti.

I have had similar funnies with the panel lights when there was a problem with the indicator switch, potentially its still there as I cured it by forcefully actioning the switch many many times in the hope of removing any oxidisation from the contacts.

The OP might want to try this as a cheap fix.
