Fuel Filter Housing

Featured Replies

Hello all, first time poster but have been reading the forum and posts for quite some time. I have an issue with my Octavia VRS Tdi that I'd like to discuss with you.

The fuel filter has been replaced as part of a major service. Now the fuel filter housing is leaking diesel (to the point it warped my Aux belt which had to be replaced), after trying both aftermarket and genuine fuel filters. Is this a common issue experienced by others? I understand the genuine fuel filter housing is north of 200 notes but unsure I'm ordering the correct one - can anyone also confirm the part number? I suspect its 3C0127400D but I don't have the car with me.

Car reg is VR60 VRY, 2010 Octavia VRS TDi. Just clicked over 125k.

Thanks,

Sam

I'd suggest taking it back to the garage that serviced it and get them to fix it at their cost! A ham-fisted mechanic can warp/damage the fuel filter lid by prying it off with a screwdriver. I assume this is what has happened?

As above, there are only three ways a fuel filter housing can leak...

1) Corrosion, usually the lid, as it is recessed and can hold water.

2) Leaking fuel hoses that enter and exit the housing via outlets and inlets on the lid. The hoses can perish and split, the clips, if removed or knocked can loosen and let fuel escape.

But by far the most common problem, as mentioned above...

3) Some ham-fisted mechanic has bent the lid when trying to remove it OR not renewed / damaged the o-ring. The lid is well sealed for obvious reasons, and over time the seal can become very comfortable, making the lid removal very stubborn. So, you have to be extremely careful when levering it off, take your time and lift it in increments around it's full circumference. All fuel filters also come with a brand new o-ring...

When replacing the screws alternate from opposite sides to ensure the lid is tightened evenly...

Take a look down the side of your fuel filter housing, there should be a part number on there...

If the leaking diesel fuel has contaminated your aux belt then chances are it's made it's way onto the cam belt too?

Wow, brilliant response, thank you so much. I saw corrosion on the lid yesterday. After the second filter was replaced, and the new seal applied correctly, it was left to run for a 10-15 minutes and wasn't leaking. It was only after a drive that it seems the filter or the housing has failed. Something to do with an increase in pressure perhaps, pointing towards the hoses? Ugh.

There's definitely some corrosion on top of the housing though so I think I'll order a replacement and take it from there. I'm assured the cambelt is fine. I should add that the mechanic who is sorting this is a friend and a master tech at Ford, whose completed numerous performance work on my Focus. Fingers crossed it wasn't his technique!

Evening,

Could somebody please point me in the right direction of where to find a replacement fuel filter housing? 3C0 127 400 C UFI 55 142 03. I'm not fussed if it's not a genuine VAG replacement but a decent quality one would be great. My housing is corroding on the recessed lid/where the pipes extend. Quite happy doing the swap myself but the garage have quoted me over £200 for something that appears quite straight forward if I could just find where to source the parts. Most of my searches come back with the filters not the housing.

Thanks for your help.

The part number is 3C0 127 400 C the rest is for other stuff, with this you can either buy new genuine for around £200 or look for aftermarket/second hand for a cheaper price.
