Have the big sound system and tthe Columbus in my car and it's started to have poor FM-audio lately, is it something that one could check with VCDS or could it be a hardware failure in some way?

Do a scan with VCDS.

 

There is a signal amplifier module in the boot lid (on the wagon,not sure about the dual-hatch) that could have failed or poor connections and VCSD may reveal that.
