Front lights changing colour, Legal or Illegal...............

Featured Replies

Had a Ford focus following me today and one thing I noticed that the front fogs had been altered to act as DRL's, similar to the MKII Fabia Vrs but one thing that drew my attention to them was they were changing colour from White to green and then blue and back to white. They seemed to change colour about every 3 seconds. They were very bright and looked like the light went out for a split second until they came back on with a different colour.

Would these be legal for road use or are they Illegal ?

Illegal, with the exception of indicators (which must be amber and flash between 60 and 120 times per minute) all forward facing lights must be continuous and white in the UK.

Illegal, if they were changing colour to a regular sequence. OTOH I've seen other lights which do similar as the suspension reacts to the road.

Last night I saw headlights way back in the rolling queue giving an occasional blue flash.

I realised that it was due to the headlights. Projector type?

See the same a lot recently.

BMW's & Mercedes.

At first after knowing it was not a Police car or Emergency vehicle coming onto the road from a slip road i thought maybe it was an old Punto Speedgear

like the 2003 model i had that really pithed off other drivers.

(Pithed me off when a bulb went and AC refused to fit the OEM bulb in the car Motability owned and went for a cheap one.

Worked out OK as i told them put in a pair of normal bulbs.)
