Rear seat folding and little red tab

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

this weekend, to apply soundproofing material to the foot floor, I folded the rear seats (not even all the way) and when putting them back I notice that, on one side, the little red tab that pops up when releasing the seats would not be pulled back inside the seat. Also, the whole plastic piece where the release lever and pop-up tab are located on the seat back does not look like it's fitted properly, it's not flush with the upholstery. Has anyone had this happen? I took to the dealer for a quick inspection, as my most pressing fear, with 2 kids in the back, was that the seat was not clipping back properly and would come loose with harsher braking or whatnot. I was assured it was OK (guy pulled on it quite hard) and booked it for repair (still under warranty). If I could avoid leaving the car there for a whole day I wouldn't mind doing it myself...

Same thing with my 2016 wagon I just purchased 2nd hand from a dealer. Interested in how you go ?

Not saying it could be a reason, but when I put the soundprofing on my Range Rover I would not be able to fold the seats upright afterwards, the "extra" would mess with the latch and it would not let me do it.

I solved the issue by pressing with my hand as I pull the lever.

Do you remember if you problem was existing before the soundproofing?
