But, its probably going to have a lot to do with self driving cars.

Think about it this way, if you are in your car and its ralking to every lamppost, mile marker, and road works sign, it and therefore your vehicle manufacturer and local authority know exactly where you are, all the time...

 

Honestly, its getting to the point where i think "our" civilisation of post Roman empire expansion is really starting to reach its end game.. may take another generation or 2, but between climate change and this potential for constant government oversight, will reach a pinnacle at which point society will revolt and break down completely. 

Start over again at basic iron age agriculture.. and go from there..

Probably not.. thats what will cause society to go over the brink. I mean lets face it, Brexit still wont be sorted, so the UK wont have fallen into that abyss at that stage, it will be bypassed by the lack of road signs riots..

They'll remove the signs but the requirement to obey them will remain and I'm sure some automatic detection will go in place to issue fines.
