EPC warning light

Featured Replies

Hi all, should an EPC warning light be able to turn off on it's own accord, despite being on for 4 days? I thought it would need to be hooked up to some kind of diagnostic machine in order to reset this? I say this as I took it to a garage (with the warning light on) and they are saying the warning light was off when they went to check it.

Welcome to the forum.

Yes EPC lights can go off without fault codes being read if there are any logged and then reset.

What engine do you have?

What age of car?

?

Did they not plug in then and check if there were fault codes logged?

Engine is standard 1.6L petrol, automatic, car is 2 and a half years old. They checked and there was a fault code logged to do with fuel pressure. They were saying this was potentially because I ran the fuel levels down at some point, but I cant believe that's the issue (partly because I haven't). I was slightly suspicious as I drove it to the forecourt and the issue was still there before they checked it. It's also coming to the end of the warranty period so ideally would want any issues fixed before I have to fork out for it.

There was an issue 4 days ago where I pulled away from some lights and the engine almost stalled before power came in about 1 second later. Don't know if it would be related to that...
