Love at first sight.

I always thought that the current Superb was the most handsome car on the road. But it was simply too big for me.

This new Octavia is perfect in styling and size. A beautiful looking machine.

I don't want a push button parking brake. I don't want a distracting computer tablet. Or massaging seats or whatever.

I want a good looking practical car that I can drive without interruption or distraction by computerised devices.

Much discussion here is about stuff that I do not want and are just optional extras anyway. I hope to be driving this car car in the next few years ... and it will be one without the distracting bells and whistles.

I agree, I don’t need all that touch screen technology either. But Octavia IV does look smart.

Will look at it in the flesh, but if it looks like the designer left his/her iPad on the dashboard during design, then it’s a definite no from me.

i hate the c class and a few others for that reason and they were cheaper than the mk3

Wonder if we will be permitted the length adjustment on the seats in the U.K. or if it will be reserved for premium brands as usual here.

Looks like the Mk IV might not be for you then, as it has both...

Oh no, it looks like they have embedded the heater controls into the screen. Now that is a terrible idea.

Yep, discussed here...

Just buy an old car then, cos if you don’t want that stuff no new car comes without them.

How did you find a two year old topic? :D

Was given a Octavia SEL MkIV diesel as a courtesy car yesterday as my Mk3 was due a service. I thought I’m going to use this opportunity as an extended test drive.

Well there is no denying the driving experience was enjoyable. Nice to have a six speed box and once I figured out the electric seat I was comfortable and cruised sublimely at 70.

But. I couldn’t figure how to use the touch screen without the radio on, the sat nav was in kilometres and couldn’t figure how to turn it off the previous destination. And the heating was saying that warming my feet wasn’t available!

And the tailgate gate seemed to rattle over bumps.

I didnt regret giving it back and so on for another 10000 miles of MkIII motoring.

Sounds like you had a early SEL First Edition which hasn’t yet had the KPH/MPH fix
