Indie cost to replace front pads?

Featured Replies

Had the 2016 Octavia serviced at well reviewed indie VAG garage and part of the work diagnosed needing was to replace front pads. Cost for this (parts and labour) was £107. Seems a bit steep to me. I can see genuine pad sets online for < £30. How long would the job take? (Labour is £70 Ph).

First time using them, just trying to gauge if getting ripped off or not!

If the garage are sourcing the parts for you there will be a markup. I don’t know a garage (indie or otherwise) that doesn’t add a bit on top for parts they’ve purchased in your behalf.

Fitting is probably about 45 mins to an hour, according to the manufacturer specifications, which will include putting up on the lift and cleaning up the carriers, putting tools away etc etc

Thanks @jars Probably a fair deal then.

Chat to the garage and see if you can supply your own parts? I know some that add as much as 20/30/40% or more, so you can save yourself a little bit that way.
