Two phones at the same time

Featured Replies

Imagine a scenario where you have one phone connect via Bluetooth for voice calls and Bluetooth music, and another one tucked away somewhere, permanently connected to the USB port for CarPlay/MirrorLink. Is this combination possible and does it make any sense?

It’s not possible on the Bolero and Amundsen but it is on the Columbus. My question would be why? If you don’t like visible cables then route one under the console to the storage box. Leaving a phone in the car doesn’t make a whole lot of sense as it’ll need to come out for updates etc and it’s all in more trouble. If you don’t have a Columbus it can’t even be done anyway.

I have an android phone permanently connected to the bolero infotainment. This is to use Android Auto, much better than apple carplay.

My iPhone is connected via bluetooth for phone calls and other bluetooth stuff.

To achieve this configuration you need to permanently disable the bluetooth connection on the android phone.

You need to root the phone and disable the hardware itself. If you simply turn off bluetooth, AA will force it open.

Works like a charm in my car :)

How is it different on the Columbus? Once connected via cable carplay or android auto you permanently have the one phone available via bluetooth. The second connection via bluetooth only is blocked - never heard of this particularity only for Columbus.

You can have 2 phones connected and available via bluetooth, but no cable involved.

Just set the applications on automatic updates, having no trouble with that :)  Only take it out when need  OBD11 :D

With my Columbus you can have a phone connected via CarPlay and a phone connected via Bluetooth. I have my personal phone connected via CarPlay wired connection and my work phone on BT. Couldn’t do this on my old Amundsen, only 2 BT connections.

hmm.. yes but that was MIB2 on Amundsen vs MIB2,5 if i'm not mistaken right?  Also these are 2 iPhones. Have not tried this combo :)
