Can anyone help - heated windscreen on SEL

Featured Replies

I am trying to find out if the Scala SEL uses the older filament type heated front windscreen, or whether it uses the newer copper conductive heated windscreen.

If anyone knows, I would very much appreciate them sharing.

Our Scala SEL doesn't appear to have a heated front screen! If it does, it doesn't appear to do much, as mists up like a trooper!

Hi DNC.

Thanks for the reply. It is an optional extra and does not come as standard.

Does it mist up even with the climate control running? It is supposed to have a humidity sensor that stops that happening.

Good morning,

Ours does and rather quickly! During any given trip, we switch in the demister setting several times. Maybe ours has a fault!

Not sure whether it's just a Skoda thing, but all models, new and old, do seem to get quite a bit of negative press on here about their keenness to mist up.

As for the heated windscreen, I was going to say that I'd be pretty sure it would be the copper conductive type as fitted to our Kodiaq (and as fitted to the MkIII Superb), but then I recently discovered that the Karoq still uses the older filament type with the visible wiggly lines...

I also had this question, reached out to the dealership and the response was, unfortunately, that it is still the older filament type, so I passed on that option. (I would have ordered it if it was the newer, conductive layer type.)

Yes it is the older filament type,  to be honest I tried it out on the 3 very frosty mornings this week and it works superbly.

Same as what was on my previous Yeti, can’t see how anyone would have any problems with the older type, worked perfectly for me.
