Solution for Lost Songs

Featured Replies

I transferred my iTunes catalogue to an SD card to use in the Amundsen in my Yeti. For ages I could not work out why I seemed to have lost songs and CD artwork in the transfer - some CD’s just seemed to have disappeared altogether. Did all the usuals - reformatted SD card, recopied music etc but nothing worked. Until I read that the Amundsen read the CD title totally separately from the artist, then light bulb moment because all the lost CD’s were titled "Greatest Hits” so all the songs from all the Greatest Hits CD's were loaded onto the first Greatest Hits titled CD on the SD card, subsequent  Greatest Hits CD titles were ignored.

Solution was to go into iTunes and retitle all the Greatest Hits CD’s with a unique prefix - "Greatest Hits" (CD title) by James Taylor retitled to "James Taylor Greatest Hits” etc for all Greatest Hits titled CD’s. Reloaded the revised CD’s onto the SD card and Hey Presto all the CD’s and songs were present and correct.

This might have been obvious to many but it solved a problem that has been plaguing me for a couple of years.
