1.9tdi coolant leak - right side of engine

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This morning coolant light came on. Obvious leak on right hand side of engine - see picture.

Anybody know what piping/part this is? Seems fairly straightforward likely to be a split hose.

Thanks in advance.

Slightly different angle.

If this is the "real right side" it could be the water pump.

It's the left hand side or near side, that looks like the tandem pump so the pipe running beneath it is probably heading for the heater matrix or EGR cooler or some such.

Got the bugger. Had to remove the airbox to get him out but sorted. Just drained the top part of the system.

Am I right in thinking these systems are self bleeding. So replace the pipe, fill her up, and off we go?

Yes, there's no way to bleed the system, no bleed valve or anything to worry about.

Grand. Off to the stealers/TPS tomorrow to try and get a replacement then!

Thanks all

Can't you just cut the split bit off and refit it?

The part number is on the side of it there. 6Q0 122 157 AA
