Adding roof rails?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2002 Octavia Ambiente with no roof rails. I'm 90% sure the plastic trim strips that replace them are leaking and letting water into the car (I've sealed all the other leaks that were also letting in water...)

I'd quite like roof rails, is adding them a relatively easy job? Can I buy the parts, or do I need to make a trip to the scrapyard? I presume it's a headliner out job, but that needs some upholstery work anyway.

Thanks!

Not entirely sure, except that they are standard on the Elegance and L&K estates. The securing bolts are accessed from the outside.

Not 100% the the Ambiente has the blanking for roof rails, but I would think so. If it does then, you will have to get the rails with all the plastic caps and covers, you will also need the roof trims that go between the rails and down each side of the screen as they are split and not one piece. Yes you will need to remove the headlining as the centre mount is fixed from the underside.
Hope this helps?
