Skoda engine progression?

What was the engine development line for Skoda engines from the 1950's to 1970's?

For example does the engine from the 1201 have similarity to the 120L? Capacity seems to have remained constant - was it just development and alloy heads?

No - the engine for the MB was all new.....that engine was then modified in various ways through S series cars, Estelle/Rapid, Favorit, Felicia and finally being used in some budget models of pick ups and Fabias until 2007. Pre 1964 engines were different......capacities aren't the same, they're just all small capacity engines where they are similar.

Not quite 3 main bearings small capacities stroked to higher ones.

Ohv as always with untensioned timing chain.

Modified from 2 port to 4 port intake and unequal size valves on later models.

A very good flowing desing for its age and simplicity it could even rev to 7k without float.

Main issues wer poor durability on higher powers due to 3 main bearings and need of very aggressive valve train plus a lot of fuel to make good power.

Do you think that the felly engine couldn't have made 75 hp and surpassed the German 1.6 ohc engine.

It could surely had but it would become fuel hungry and shame the Germans.

68/1300=0.052hp per cm^3

75/1600=0.046 hp per cm^3

You get the picture...
