Servicing Leicestershire

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

New to the forum here,

I have not long picked up a VRS Tdi estate DSG 4x4.

Firstly I'm looking forward to being part of the forum and learning a few things.

Secondly, can anyone recommend a reputable garage for servicing in Leicestershire.

Thirdly, does anyone know the servicing intervals for the DSG/4x4 system?

Best regards,

Owen

Welcome to the forum Owen and I've been using the Skoda main dealer on Groby Road, Leicester for 15 years without any problems. The 4x4 haldex system needs an oil change at 40,000 mile service intervals or 4 years whichever commes sooner. Happy New Year. Marshalls Skoda is the name and number is 0116 214 9619.:hi:

Hi,  the above is not strictly true.

DSG needs an oil change every 40k but the Haldex unit is more of an issue.  I suggest you ignore any 'official' service interval for the Haldex unit and spend some time reading this info from the Golf R forum then make your own mind up.

I had my Haldex serviced at 7k miles and the filter was nearly completely blocked - by an independent Golf specialist as the VW main dealers do not remove the pump and clean the filter which is an integral part of the pump and not a separate filter so the dealers claim you just need a simple oil change.

If the filter gets blocked you will essentially end up with a front wheel drive car, if this happens during warranty fine the dealer will fix it with either a new pump or a new Haldex but if you are out or warranty expect a large bill. - Get an indy to do an oil change and pump removal every 2 years minimum, I will be getting mine done very 10K in future.

I can’t see why you can’t insist that the Skoda dealer  does what you require to the Haldex System and also insist that they put it in writing that they have carried out your instruction.  You’re the customer after all.
