Pan roof leaking

Featured Replies

Hi All

I’ve had My old 2009 tdi170 Yeti (pan roof) for nearly a year. I thought there may be a damp problem, but it was never too bad.

now however when it rains heavily I have water running out of the interior c pillar covers and down the rear seat belts. I’ve partially removes the headlining at the rear to have a look and both rear drain pipes seem to be in good shape and attached.

Do You think it is the pan roof or maybe the roof bars that are leaking?

any help will be VERY gratefully received

cheers

Dunk

Possibly leaking at the joints were the pipes join to the roof? A local Yeti specialist around these parts routinely strips out the headlining and glues all the pipes in place on any pan roof car he takes in to sell and has never had a problem reported back. Mine is not leaking at the mo but I am taking it in to get him to do it anyway...prevention better than cure and all that.....

Thanks for that.
still haven’t put the head lining back so I’ll get those sealed.

i tried to take the roof bars off just to check, however the bolts have a multi spline head and I only have Allen heads and torx. Any idea what these bolts are called so I can buy some?

..would be surprised if it can leak through the roof rail brackets?

They are "torx" heads.

Agreed

I cannot remember a single report of leaks through roof rail brackets - with or without the pano.

I also noticed that no one else had noticed leaking from roof rails, but thought it might be the problem as the water comes down the side of the car and My headlining has never been wet.

the roof bar bolts look different from torx (many more splines) but ill try again with the torx head, it just didn’t seem to gain much purchase on the bolt and was reluctant to force it.

they are 12 point torx  -  look at amazon for prices
