It's a "lights on" alarm, so the headlight switch.

Technically the trigger is the door opening switch in the lock module and s-contact.

The warning will only sound IF the lights are on and the keys are removed from the ignition.

... and the driver's door is opened. I'm inclined to say that the issue is actually that the OP asked about the trigger, rather than the sounder.

True, but sounder failure on a Fabia is very common indeed. It’s the same sounder as the indicators hence my question.

I guess the better question would be “My lights on buzzer doesn’t work, are there any common causes?”

Possible causes -

- sounder failed

- door switch not working

- wiring interruption

- s contact not working correctly

Does the interior light come on when the driver's door is opened (it will still work via remote key fob or by using the key)?

Unlock the car and open the drivers door and leave it open for 30 seconds. Does the car lock itself while the door is still open?

Sounds like a lock module issue.

Sorry for the wrong question, it was meant in a lighthearted way. the thing is when we got the car the buzzer sounded, now it doesn`t

Thanks, I will have a look, once the temperature gets a little higher

Just to clarify - does it have central locking?

  • Author

if it does ,its not working. havent had much time to study it. all I have done is brakes and changed auto box oil. Very impressed with the car though

Easy way to tell - does it have this button on the door?...

Hi, no it does not. so no central locking then

No, probably still an issue with the lock module in the door though.

Thanks i will take a look  Mick

Yeah, was just trying to determine if it had central locking or not because I know the lock modules have the door switch in different places. Ones without C/L have the switch inside the unit I think, whereas it's on the outside of the others.
