Making Use of Blanked Switches / Buttons

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of bringing blank switches/buttons into use?

Like the ones in front of the gear lever in my Mk III Octavia where there are about five blanks and three in use.

Is it even possible? Can you get functioning switches to use in the blanked slots?

Is it a complete unit with all eight switches but blanked over in models without the feature? Or are the switches all individual units?

My possible project is installing amber beacons around the car and I'd like an on/off switch in one of the unused slots if at all possible.

Any info would be great.

AFAIK it's a complete bank of switches , I've never managed to find individual replacement switches...

They are a bank of switches, top row is one bank and the bottom row is another. You could drill the blanks out but it’ll always look aftermarket. There are various part numbers for this and they are about £55 at TPS. I know because I’m retrofitting the electric boot to my car and I need the buttons but as they aren’t individual and I can’t find any RHD button rows on eBay with the mode button and boot button I have to suck it up and buy new. The joys.
