60 Plate Fabia, central locking quirk...

Featured Replies

Hi all. After this forum proved incredibly useful with a few prior problems (fuel pump fuse, intermittent bulb warning light, and water in spare wheel well), I have signed up seeking the wisdom of the mob for a puzzle that hasn't been posted here that is baffling me.

Earlier today, my wife tried using the key fob to open the car. It failed. Instead, she used the key the old fashioned way. Shortly after, the key fob function returned, but we noticed a strange quirk: with the electrical system or ignition on, opening the driver side front door causes all of the locks to click as if they are opening. This doesn't occur with any other door, nor with the ignition\electonics set to off. Other than this odd\annoying quirk, all lock functionality is as normal.

Any ideas as to what this is caused by, or how to rectify it?

check the door wires under the door boot between door and A pillar on drivers door, broken wires there is a common problem and manifests itself in many ways
