Key problem

Featured Replies

Only my 2nd post on here, and I am not sure if it is the right place, so please bear with me.

Had French lion diesels for years, and became accustomed to their quirks and fates. So I recently bought my first Skoda, which is an Octavia 2, 1.9td Elegance, and actually quite like it. Apart from the pants Stream cd player, which is on the list to be changed to a DAB variant, everything else is fine and dandy. Except......

Only had the car a month, and already having problems with the central locking. The one and only key, was working fine until a couple of days ago, until it stopped working the system. Tried the reset as per the owners manual, and then various ways as per the internet, and still it won't work. Thought it might be the battery, so replaced that and tried the reset, but still no joy.

Already I am starting to fall out of love with it, but I know it has potential, so I am calling on you guys to help me out.

Do I need to get it reprogrammed another way, ie via VCDS, and if so, who is near to Wakefield that can help?

Looked at the list of persons on this site, but it seems that it may be out of date, so not sure who can help locally to Wakefield.

Have you used a quality battery and does the red light flash on the remote when you press the buttons?

Yes and yes

Sorted.

The key had lost its way in communicating with the car, and instead of taking it to the stealers, I managed to get someone local with the correct equipment to recode it.

Shame really, as someone on here could have had the readies instead.
