Service help?

Featured Replies

Right guys so I need alittle help. My 16 plate VRS is coming up to its next service. Ive only owned the car for a year so this is my first time doing it. Looking at the digital service history the last service it had was an 'interval service' when i bought the car at 39,000 miles. it's now done 46,000 (I don't drive very much xD) and was going to get a 'full service' because I thought it would need one at this point. From what I've read elsewhere even if i do this then if things dont need replacing like a filter or break fluid Skoda wont do it as its not required at that  service. Just wondering what would be my best option at this point. It does have a warranty so would rather get it done by them rather than myself incase i need to make a claim. Thanks guys!

First is it a diesel or petrol because if it's the 2.0TSi engine it will probably need new spark plugs at this mileage and a cambelt/water pump can probably wait another 12 months as these are usually done at the big 5 year service. Brake fluid normally gets changed at 3years, 5years, 7 years etc. Pollen filters normally every 2 years unless it was done at the 39,000 mile service. Now you are doing a lower than average mileage always a good idea to change the oil/filter every year as a preventive measure. Air filters are usually changed every 2 years or 20,000 miles. It would help if you knew what was replaced at that last service and the dealer that did it should be able to help you here.:)

Apologies, its the 2.0TDI engine. I'll contact the dealer to see exactly what was done on the last service, but looking at it from what you've said it will probably be better to get the full package since its 3+ years old now, and since I've just got a caravan this years mileage will increase alot more than this year. Better be prepared. Thanks for your help! :)

My Dad has your 168bhp engine in his 2012 Superb Estate which he also uses for towing his 2 berth caravan and I advised him to get them to do the cambelt/water pump because he bought it from a Skoda dealer at 6 years old and 66,000 miles and the work hadn't been done so they did it into the price he paid before he collected. I drove his car once and it was nice with the DSG box and I got over 50mpg out of it.
