i just wanted to know if the speedo rev counter e.t.c are surpposed to light up when just the side lights are switched on or only when the headlights are switched on?i have a 2015 citigo.

If daylight isn't bright enough instrument cluster lights are off if you don't turn headlights on. That's the way it tries to tell you that you should turn headlights on. 

As above, Skoda no longer illuminate the dash dials with the headlight switch in the sidelights position.

 

The reason for this is you're not meant to drive on sidelights, so not being able to read the dials is to force you to turn dipped headlights on.

 

This is a good thing, there are a lot of other manufacturers that illuminate the dials independent of the light switch position, this is why you see a lot of cars driving around in poor visibility with either no lights, or DRL's only.

Agreed; I remember my father's first new car having permanently illuminated instruments, which we only discovered by trying to drive the car after dark!
