Starting problems.

Featured Replies

Hello people ... so I’ve had my mk1 Fabia vrs 2 yrs. over the last 12 months this problem has been getting worse ...

go to get in the car and start it . Drive about turn off the car then it won’t start. Leave it half hr or overnight and it will start ...I think it’s immobiliser issue but don’t have the light on the dash ...

On the first crank the starter engages the flywheel but on the second crank sounds like it’s just spinning ??

things I’ve done so far

new starter

had the clocks out and soldiered (1)(17)

cheacked piggy back connector on the loom for starter..

changed battery in fob

i also would like to do the repair wire

000979018EA from clock to ignition barrel.....

please help I’m losing the will to live

Immobiliser problems would not create the problem with the starter motor that you're experiencing, check the main engine earth strap is in good condition, also check the ignition switch itself as these have been known to suffer contact failure, finally test the battery as the voltage may be dropping too low.

Well, I'd check the battery first because IME it's the most likely of those faults, but I agree the fault diagnoses given the symptoms.

I’ve had the battery tested and all is fine with that...

car won’t start at all now ...

fault codes are 01330

Of those codes the 01330 might indicate the battery or alternator is playing up.

I had the battery down to halfords to get tested on there machine . Came back as a good battery ....

I do have a fairly new Alternator on my mk4 asz I will put that on and try it.

is it worth trying the ccm?

I'd be tempted to try jump starting it. If it seems better then just get a battery. Try Tayna Battery if you need one.

So I’ve gone and got a new battery... I’ve also had the CCM out and cleaned the board and terminals... still Has  intermittent starting issue...

I don't know what safety precautions are taken in the design of Fabia electronics, but I'd advise anyone playing around with the electronic modules to look at using an anti static wristband and the reasons for doing so
