citigo navigon pid sd problems

Featured Replies

hi there,

i'm having troubles with music stored on a micro sd card being accessed by the navigon.

I had music on a sd card for months, but I decided to refresh my music on it.

I deleted the music folders on it,put new ones on...but the navigon won't find them.

it says.... no matching file found in the selected folder each time I press the media player on the touch screen.

I have a 2gb card on it...I thought it maybe was a card fault, so I reformatted it to fat 32..no joy.

reformatted it to fat... still no joy.

I've tried a hard reset on the navigon… still no joy.

has the music have to be put in a certain labeled folder first to be found?

it was originally in a dcim folder, but this was erased on reformatting.

any advice is most welcome... thanks island steve

I don't have a navigon; mine has a slot in the radio, but I know some systems can have difficulty with character sets used in file names (which work fine elsewhere). I'm basically talking unicode, and non-UK/US English characters versus basic ascii.... Some systems fail to read characters with accents, umlauts etc. I have seen that even an apostrophe can be in several styles, only one of which works! As the file table is scanned, a "bad" character can stop the system seeing any files!

A test would be to get a copy of an MP3 file and rename it on your PC to say "abc.mp3", upload it to a freshly formatted sd card (fat32) and go from there.

I can't say that this is your issue, but it one thing that is worth trying.

The same may apply to any folder names or playlist file names you are using.

  • 2 weeks later...

my card is formatted to FAT32 and i have all the albums on the root

sdcard --- Album 1

                  Album 2

                  Album 3

etc

1 thing i did notice that *.wav files don't seem to be recognised - could it be that?

It may be.... Try removing all but *.MP3, and make sure playlists are correct and only refer to the MP3 files you gave.

I'm going to try another sd card in it... As now it doesn't show it when it's installed.... If that fails... Must be the pid itself... Funny how it was working fine until I removed the card.

There will be a "reboot with factory defaults" option on the unit somewhere, I would think. Maybe a tiny push switch or some combination of holding buttons on power up. May even be a selectable option in the GUI menus. Someone here will know.

Try that next.
