Replacing malfunctioning Columbus unit

Featured Replies

Hi,

being the consummate idiot when it comes to cars i am overwhelmed with the idea of buying a second hand columbus from the web to replace my original 2012 unit that has decided to continue trying to download a software update to the point of flattening my cars battery!

have found a potential unit with the code 3T0 035 680 G but haven't a clue if it will just link up with my existing controls etc  if put into the car.

HELP please

Apologies if i have chosen the wrong forum area to post in.

You've chosen the right forum.

First up, don't buy anything. Send me the old unit and I'll probably be able to repair it for not a lot of money.

Rusty nuts fixed my broken unit, great service 👍

AH that is an idea. How much does something like this typically cost? Just wondering if i could get a more modern unit at a decent price it might make the whole user experience a bit better. Just wondering, do the codes on the back bear any relevance to understanding if the unit will fit or not?

Functionally there's little difference between your unit and a much newer unit. You won't gain any new features, there's no massive spec change other than an SSD hard drive might make it a little quicker loading the maps, but I doubt you'd notice. Any new unit will fit and can be coded to work just as your old one does.

I do a software and maps update for £45 plus postage.

Thank you Rustynuts. I am going to mull over the pros and cons of a repair vs another unit and also look into postage costs etc and will get back to you asap.

Really appreciate your help and advice with this. Missing have my unit working that's for sure!

I have a replacement unit here if you prefer. However, it's a DAB radio version so you'll need a DAB antenna.
