Vrs odd noise when clutch depressed

Featured Replies

Hi all . Just a quick hello to all . im new to vrs ownership but have noticed an odd noise when i depress the clutch . Its got a bit of dmf noise on idle  but the engine note changes inside the car it sort of pup pups .Raise the revs and it stops .  Outside the car you cant hear any discernable change in engine sound only when inside with doors closed. very odd . Just wondering if anyone has encountered similar ??

Ill be posting more about my car soon , Its No833 VRS SE .

best regards to all .

Your DMF, clutch and release bearing all need replacing.

Oh bugger , that not good considering I've had the car two day s. Does this change the engine note then ?

I would imagine it's the reason the previous owner sold it, you obviously didn't negotiate your price with a five hundred pound bill in mind and you didn't come on here before you bought it, has the cambelt been done recently?

Nah , he was a friend  who Just didn’t know about cars and his wife drove it 99 percent of the time . I bought it unseen and tested based on his description so didn’t pay over the odds even with a looming 500 pound bill . One of those things I guess . Still intrigued as to why the hollow pup pup sound is caused by the dmf . I’m not doubting it but just wondering why it makes that noise inside the car and not outside .? Cheers

Oh and yes cambelt waterpump done 2018 14k ago

Result, you can leave getting the clutch and flywheel done until it really bothers you, it might be fine for another six months.

Loads of strange sounds come from down there when things start to wear. On the plus side our golf had a DMF rattle from the time we bought it to the time it got totalled, never got any worse never got any better so if it's not really loud and doesn't cause any issues just leave it until it worsens.
