what rear diff oil?? 2010 Octavia scout FL

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I’ve had a look on here but using my phone is as much use as a chocolate fire guard... how much oil does the rear diff take NOT the hedlex just the actual diff  and is 75W-90 GL 3/4/5 the correct oil?
Picture below of what oil I’ve got. Bearing in mind my car does work hard (RRV rapid responce vehicle) paramedic ambo etc etc...

many thanks...

BUT saying that I’ve allready drained the diff so I’ve no choice... rear diff oil was quite good considering she’s done over 215,000 miles 😁😁

The rear diff takes circa 1 of of oil 75w90 synthetic. I change mine about every 20 k miles as oil is cheap diffs are dear. It is a easy oil change

MPM oil is fine too 👍 I’ve used it in auto boxes on Mercedes and the mk1 TT I had has it in too 👍

Cheers guys, must admit the rear diff oil was in pretty good shape to be fair. No bits in it, not burned or “foamy” it was just a darker colour. It was a b*****d to get the oil back in the diff, I had too use a 100ml syringe to get it back in lol, when I took the car over it had 168k on the clock, she’s got 215k now and I’ve never done the rear diff AND it does have a hard life my car, from day one it’s been hammered around country On bluelights and siren (paramedic car) although I service the engine every 4K the diffs allways get passed by.  Here’s the pics of oil
