MP3 covers' resolution - Is there any limitation?

Featured Replies

Hello!

Searched in the forum about the topic, but I was not able to find anything,  so apologies if it has been already discussed.

I have just realized that my Bolero system in my new Skoda Kodiaq does not visualize many MP3's covers.

My music is all perfectly tagged and embedding the covers in the files and I wouldn't have expected any difference among the files.

Accidentally I have discovered that files not showing the cover have a cover's size of 1000x1000 or more (note: all the covers, regardless of the resolution, are squared).

So the question is: is there any known limitation to the size of the covers that the system is able to visualize?

Ciao,

Massimo

I've always kept mine under 450x450 (I think I read somewhere 500x500 is the max) and I've never had a problem. I use mp3tag to embed them, again without a problem.

Yes, 500x500 works for me as well. But also 560x560 (not tried many till 1000x1000), so for sure 500x500 is not the upper limit (if it really exists).

I would like just to avoid to remap the covers in thousands of files...

I am also using MP3tags by the way.

Ok, I respond to myself.

Looking at other posts I have understood that limitations to the covers' size indeed exist. It was 200kb in some old models (around 500x500 pixels), it might be a bit bigger in the last models (it seems new Amundsen supports till 800x800).

A bit disappointing, considering that one is using the same media library on many different devices, not only the car... but this it it.
