I have a 68 plate octavia . I believe it’s possible to activate features that aren’t in the main infotainment system and I am keen to find out how ? 

I am really keen to find out if I can make it possible to lock the car whilst running (yeah I know your not meant to leave unattended etc but for warming in winter ) but also if there are other useful options such as can I set the car to auto lock etc and other cool things Thwt might be available but not via the menu ?

You’ll need OBDEleven with the PRO pack or VCDS. You can set the car to lock while it’s running, auto locks should be in the radio menu anyway but if it’s not then that can be enabled too. There are some instructions for coding at the top of this section of the forum.

for warming in winter just either get a DEFA or a Webasto.... locking while running is hard. It was asked previously.

 

Autolock should be on the menu, I'm sure it is on mine.

Those cold mornings are a nightmare.

locking the car while running stationary? so the long way round of warming the car? I was under the impression that the remotes are disabled as soon as the car is started, so you have no way to lock the car while it runs. Though you can just walk away with a KESSY key and it won't stop... but if it will lock like that I haven't tried. 

 

Webasto is the correct answer, DEFA the one if you have electricity where you park. A DEFA kit should be around €200 and relatively easy to fit, as at least one variant has the element attached to the sump.

Easy as that. If you have KESSY you can test with one key but if you don’t, you will be locking a key in the car with another key so you will need at least 2 keys for this.
