Esp fault

Recommended Posts

Hi, I’ve got another issue with my 2006 vrs petrol, I done a trip the other day around 60miles it drove fine , until the last 10miles I had this car up my rear so as I was coming off the roundabout I put my foot then all of a sudden there was a massive jolt loss of power , only for a second.. I carried on driving .. no warning light , drove another 5miles then it juddered a little so I put it in 2nd and hit 40mph for about a Mile then drove it normal when I was near home,, parked up no lights seem ok switched off started up again a few times .. next day I went to it the esp light is on , can’t turn it off, I’ve been driving it to and from town and it drives fine if not better , Not to say I want to drive around with that light on

i took it to a local garage and they said replace the abs module between 400-800 and it will 99% fix it ... I don’t have a lot of faith as they changed me a 1k last year for an electrical fault , so I got a mobile mechanic to come out he said gage doesn’t know ... but said about the brake pedal abit spongy the main code coming up is 01345 but also another in the steering angle .. code forgot, he also said the abs works ....

Im really struggling with this I don’t want to waste money

just one light esp ,

no MOT 😞

any advice will be appreciated

I have got the fault code/s 01345 it’s refers brake pressure sensor ,, all the searches I’ve done has said abs module but that’s whilst having abs and esp light on 😕 I spoke to a Skoda bloke but he said it could be anything , I was hoping someone has had the same issue , :)

im sorry to say this is the common brake pressure fault. VW eventually started replacing units back in the day for free or part payment after so many failed. the kicker is some people have had to have the replacement replaced. I think its made by Siemens who were probably cheaper than Bosch. maybe they should stick to washing machines.

anyway its a slim chance but you might have an early system that has the pressure sensor on the brake master cylinder if I remember, nice and easy to get to. the later ones have it imbedded into the ABS block. my mates octy had it go and it was new ecu time. fortunately he took my advice and got it out of the hands of the skoda dealer who were, denying all knowledge of the issue,  replacing wheel sensors and wanted to replace the steering rack.

I have the same problem on my A3 and fortunately touch wood the abs works just don't have esp. funny thing is my friendly garage bought a used ECU from ebay for me and before we fitted it we plugged it in to test it and it had the same problem.

the ecu is about £600 from skoda then fitting and youll need a garage with vcds to blead the brake system properly.

Thank you I hope it isn’t Ecu I had it tested last year as I had electrical fault which cost 1k in total to find it was just a fuse box 😞 , so did yours just have the esp light on or the abs aswell , I might change the brake light switch , doubt it will do anything but worth a try , It given me such a headache , I might just sell it and get a push bike ;)

Mine was hidden by a previous owner. But the abs light comes on and goes off.

i would google brake pressure sensor and see yours is the type that screws into the master cylinder.

You have your diagnosis then, as suspected fault code 01345 is a failed sensor inside the Teves MK60 ABS pump. A very common fault across all VAG models of the same era.

Skoda are aware of it and were replacing them FOC on vehicles outside of warranty for a time. I would very much guess that with a 2006 model you're well beyond any manufacturer support, but it would be worth a quick phone call to be sure.

Luckily, you no longer need to replace the whole ABS pump, Skoda created a repair kit which brought the cost down from £1,000+ for a brand new pump, to around £500. Most well-respected VAG specialists will be all too aware of the issue, but should all be well practised at fixing them.

Mine failed at three years old, weeks before the warranty expired on my old 2008 Octavia Scout, assuming yours is the original then it's done well to make 14 years old, unless it's already had a previous repair / botch?

Its so bad ...Skoda got away with it it should of been recalled, I had someone come round today he said the abs pump is working , and suggested I should replace the brake light switch ... I started it but got stuck on taking the dashboard off lol i will pay for it to be done just want to do whatever I can first

thank you
