Reprogram Octavia Key

Featured Replies

Hope someone can help.

I have an Octavia 2014 with keyless entry and keyless start/ stop.

Car is warning that I need to replace the key battery.

Is it a simple case of just changing the battery,  or will the key need any kind of coding or reprogramming after swapping the battery?

Also I have a spare key that's totally flat.  I've changed the battery,  but the key neither remote unlocks the car,  or allows it to start.  Is there anything I need to do to match the spare key back to the car locking or ignition?

Many thanks

Ian

Just replace the battery in the key. It’s a CR2025 or something like that. A link....piece of cake!

Okay it’s a Golf but keys the same. Did mine the other day.

As above, nothing special to do, just replace the battery & everything works fine.

Just remember that straight after replacing the battery it is likely that the KESSY "opening/closing" wont work.

You may need to unlock the car with the fob button & ignition on, at which point the car reads the battery level of the key & recognises the level is no longer low.

After this, KESSY is enabled again by the car for this key.
