Climate Control

Featured Replies

What is the best setting to have it on,as this is my first car with this!!

If you have it on auto will the fan only come on when the temp go`s below the setting:confused:

I just leave it at auto and either 20 or 21'

The fan will adjust it's speed as needed to either heat the car or cool it.

When you first get in on a hot day it will run the fan very fast to cool the car rapidly then drop back to one or two notches on the display. It would be very unusual for it to stop altogether

Will this not burn the fan out?

I think this is normal on most cars with filtering in the system (pollen filter). The fan on my wife's Mk1 Mondeo is on all the time the heating/cooling is on.

Always on is probably more reliable than continuous stop/starting.

I've not seen any reports of this happening , and there are some very high mileage cars on here.

A fan running at a constant speed actually suffers very little wear. It's starting it moving from dead stop that puts more load on it.

The climate control fan never goes off unless you turn the whole system off manually. If it did, you would steam up like crazy. It might stay off for a few minutes on a cold morning before the engine warms up but i'm not 100% on that one.

The fan will adjust in auto mode depending on how far the cabin temperature is from setpoint and solar gain offset from the sensor between the windscreen outlet vents.

I hardly ever have it on auto mode as I like the air from the dash vents on my face all the time.

I think in the manual it states to have the temparature at 22 degrees and leave it in the auto mode. The Climate Control works everything out and adjusts the fan speed as appropriate.

Touch wood no problems with this and when I went on a trip around Europe (in Summer) i.e. Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic and Austria, the climate control was left on all the time and I still returned 52.5 mpg over a 2500 mile trip.

Not bad, I think.

They (Skoda) obviously recommed this for a reason.

My climate control is a pain, or maybe its me just not being used to it. On hot days it will blow nice cold air in, but then all of a sudden go mental and try and heat the car up.

It's like it keeps over compensating for the temperature - like it cools it down, realises its to cold so heats it up, then cools it down, etc, like it can't figure out how to make a constant temperature....

I have mine on ECON all the time on the second lowest setting and 19c.

I think on ECON its just a fan and the temp is ignored.

I just got the impression when you have it on auto at idle it starts to chew up power.

Mind you comming into the summer I might switch to Auto.

ECON just turns off the AC compressor so will draw more power on AUTO, however it is advisable to run AUTO reguarly as this keeps the A/C system ticking over and lubricated.
