Engine not starting

Which engine?

1.4 16v

when I turn ignition engine turn over and cut out - not idling

 

Will it run with a bit of throttle?

Does it run for a second or two then cuts out?

First things first: Make sure you've got some petrol left in the tank.

 

Pay special attention to hearing the pump "priming" the delivery system when you turn the key to "on" (before starting the engine). It should pump for about 15 seconds. If not, it could be a dead fuel pump relay or a dead pump.
