BATTERY IS ALWAYS FLAT

Featured Replies

Hi hoping someone can help just bought myself a MK1 Fabia VRS and something is running the battery down .The previous owner told me the battery is pretty new ant that he thinks it could be the stereo anyone ever had this problem

Check to see if the battery light illuminates with just the ignition turned on (engine not running). If it doesn't it could be the very common broken alternator load signal wires at the plugs near the gearbox.

Disconnect the fuse to the radio or the radio itself and see if that solves the problem.

That's not impossible with an aftermarket stereo. Try actively turning it off rather than just relying on the ignition live to turn it off, and maybe pull the fuse.

The thing with aftermarket radios is that people rely on a continuous 12v feed rather than the ignition live. It is the case in my car, which came with an aftermarket Bluetooth radio. Pulling the key out of ignition does nothing. I have to actively turn it off AND remove the faceplate, otherwise it'll spend the night looking for Bluetooth devices even if it is "off".
