Accidentally placed jump leads on the wrong way

Featured Replies

Hello Briskoda,

I accidentally put the jump leads on the wrong way for about 10-20 seconds. That night I charged the battery and the car starts and drives OK but I get some warning lights flashing. Steering warning light, abs light and a couple more.  They go off after a few seconds /minutes.  I checked the interior fuse box and could not find any blown fuses.  My question is would you think I need to replace the ECU?

No, because all those modules have their own individual ECU, you just need to clear all the many, many fault codes they all logged to turn off the lightshow.

So that's just a matter of getting the diagnostic scanner plugged in and that's how you reset all?

Yes, if your scanner can talk to every module, most just do the engine, VCDS does the lot.
