Today I changed the oil and filter from my fabia. With no oil, I turned on the ignition (obviously I didn't cranked the engine!), the oil indicator turned on for two - three seconds and then turned off as it always does. So, the question is does the aub engine have an oil level sensor? 

Look for something like this poking up through the bottom of the oil sump, with wires going to it.  If there is no such thing, then you don't have an oil level/temperature sensor:
