Citigo remote

Featured Replies

Hello chaps I've just changed the engine battery in my 2015 SE and now the remote locking refuses to work.   I have 1 flip key with 3 buttons and 1 dumb key.

Can anybody help me please?

I might be wrong, but you may have to re-train the ECU (or BCM - whatever the relevant compute-device is called on a Citigo) to recognize your key. I think the procedure is in the manual.

It is, on some cars at least, often as simple as putting the remote key in the door lock and holding one or more buttons for a few secs..

Thanks so much for your trouble Steve.   I've already done something akin to this but to no avail so far.   Ill do what you say though and give it another whirl later today.

Cheers

I'm sure it is in the manual, but mine's  not handy. If you don't have a manual, Google it....   I expect you have to be quite specific with the procedure. Then again, it may be a other problem altogether.

I assume the battery was fully charged when you fitted it, as this may be an issue. And all the earth straps to the car body are clean? Fused all good?

Still no joy.    Handbook and U-tube show several fix routines but nothing works.

Daft question, but is the battery in the remote OK?

I've got 2 of the correct battery and they both flash the red lamp, that and the fact it failed immediately after a main battery swap lead me to believe its not that.

Ta for the thought though.

Again, thanks so much for this but it's still no go.   I've swapped the key battery back again and now i'll pull a couple of fuses but after that, I just don't know.

Finally disconected a battery lead for a minute or so but to no immediate effect.   Later that day I manually unlocked and subconsciously noted a change in the LED activity.   I performed the fob reprogramming routine yet again bingo, and it worked.

£20 to the "expert" who tried everything he knew and failed.

Now I've got a warped disc.     😞
